Along with the dozen-plus other games revealed last week for the upcoming PlayStation 5, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was one of the standout games for comic nerds. With a new and improved look, the icon of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse gets his own game. With the much more chaotic tone of the Ultimate Universe, things are bound to get strange.
And no, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not an expansion to the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. This entirely new game is a standalone title that’s built on the same core engine and style from the 2018 smash-hit PS4 title. As community director James Stevenson tweeted in response to someone asking about a “remaster,” “Remaster what? It’s a new standalone game.”
While Marvel’s Spiderman will not see a direct sequel, at least not yet, players will have the chance to return to the Spiderman universe through the perspective of Miles Morales. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch for the PlayStation 5 in holiday 2020. We can bet that it will be a launch title, and a strong one at that, for the PS5.
Check out the trailer for the new game below.
Miles is the passionate but wild student to the legendary Peter Parker. Miles grows quite a bit during his time in the comics, and now gamers get to see that transition to true hero first-hand. He also plays a lot different to the original game in the series. Miles is much more agile, and has a new invisibility ability that makes stealth a much more viable option.
