You see, Lunastra isn’t just another pushover, she’s an Elder Dragon, and one of the core components of the true end-game in Monster Hunter World. Her place among her peers is cemented by her impressive strength, speed and of course her in-ring abilities. Players have been tackling the fierce beast for months on consoles, since the update the added her to the game in May 2018, but now PC players are getting a shot.
Lunastra lands with the upcoming patch to Monster Hunter World on PC on November 22. You can check out the update trailer down below if you’d like to get a little better acquainted.
Lunstra joins Nergigante, Kushala Daora, Vaal Hazak, and then Teostra as the ever-growing team of Elder Dragons that comprise the core of MHW’s end-game content. There are of course other beasties like Kirin or Kulve Tarroth, but that core group that Lunastra belongs to is a huge part of what players will grind while playing the game in High Rank quests. So that means you’ll be seeing a ton of this blue meanie.
As for fighting Lunastra, this isn’t easy, but there are some things to keep in mind that will make the tough task a bit easier for new players.
As Lunastra is a female belonging to the same species as Teostra, another Elder Dragon, these two are often on the same maps. And like Rathalos and Rathian, these two are a true power couple and a nightmare to fight when together. Teostra and Lunastra even have a combo attack that can easily KO an unsuspecting Hunter. There’s three blasts to this ability, so keep moving.
You’ll also want to be on the lookout for her supernova attack which has very large range. Use Astera Jerkey after her first nova blast to heal. Her flames don’t apply fire blight, but will do passive damage, so bring Cool Drinks and Chillshrooms aplenty. Bring a Fireproof Mantle to make things easier in terms of healing.
As for her weaknesses and strengths, she’s completely immune to Fire elements, so don’t bother bringing anything like that. Ice and Dragon are your best bets, as she’s at least suffering from two-star weakness to both. As for statuses, Stuns and Blast are a good choice as well, due to two-star weakness. Lunastra also has unique Turf War animations with both Nergigante and Kushala Daora, dealing massive damage to Lunastra, use this to your advantage and stay out of the way. Crystalburst slinger ammo is useful for when she has her blue aura up, as it can deal extra damage to weakspots.
Are you ready to take on a new Elder Dragon PC Hunters? You better be, because A new threat looms over the New World, and it’s your job to deal with it.
