Life is Strange 2 – Episode 2: Rules set to release January 2019

Life is Strange 2

It’s been a day of delays today, with multiple companies announcing delays or other release date shuffling and gamers have been getting pretty disappointed over the course of the whole day. So far we’ve heard about Elder Scrolls: Blades being pushed back. Then GGG pushed back the PS4 port of Path of Exile for a bit. And now, we’ve got some more news that Square Enix fans might be a little miffed about.

Specifically, we’re talking about Life is Strange 2 this time around. Since the first episode of the sequel debuted back in September 2018 fans have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story surrounding the two lost brothers. Fans and anyone else following the project, or any episodic game, have become used to delays between individual continuations of a game story. And it looks like DONTNOD is taking these concerns into consideration, but they want to deliver on a quality experience.

DONTNOD took to their official Tumblr to explain more in detail why things are taking so long.

The developers have cited a commitment to bring forward a passionate and wonderful story saying that Life is Strange 2 “close to all of our hearts and one for which we do not want to rush development.” And given the recent cluster of failed launches we’ve seen over the last few months, it can’t hurt to take some extra time to ensure both the narrative and gameplay elements of this second episode perform well and satisfy the audience. The developers also want to make it clear that the increased scope and quality of the sequel has thrown the cadence established in the first game out of whack, but hopefully this will result in a more enjoyable game overall.

DONTNOD does promise that more about the episode will be shown off sometime in mid-December, so at least we have something to look forward to.
