Lara is deadlier than ever before in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider E3 2018

We got some brand new Shadow of the Tomb Raider gameplay today at Square Enix’s E3 showcase that really demonstrates why one should not get in the way of one Lara Croft.

These new gameplay demos and trailers show several different sides of Lara, and not just the destructive badass we’ve come to expect. We also get a look at some puzzles, and tomb exploration that looks pretty similar to the classic series we all know and love.

Much like the other games in the series, exotic locales and dangerous ruins make a return in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. A lot of Mayan iconography will be seen over the course of the game if the E3 2018 demos are to be believed. According to those bits of gameplay, the game will spend a lot of time in Peru.

Combat has been made even more satisfyingly brutal in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara moves with a more refined precision and ferocity. And with a renewed focus on a mix of stealth and open combat, she’ll need every trick and weapon in her arsenal to survive. She’s moved far past the insecure and timid character we saw in earlier games, her confidence has been found, and it’s lethal.
