Klei Entertainment has announced their next set of planned changes and new content for Don’t Starve Together in 2019.
According to the update on the game’s Steam Community page, the work is already ongoing on the first batch of patches and updates. A firm window for release hasn’t been established yet, but the first changes should arrive around March or April.
There’s a ton of plans in the works to bring new content to Don’t Starve Together. The first major changes for the title will drop in April with a bunch of new monsters to hunt you in-game. There will also be a load of new biomes and other locales added to the adventure game.
The developers are working to introduce the concept of character refreshes to breathe new life into existing characters. The refreshes will change the design of each character, and are planned to drop at a rate of one each month. In addition, the Triumphant, Guest of Honor and Survivor skin packs will be available to purchase for the characters on the same day these new refreshes launch.
Speaking of characters, there will be new ones on the horizon. The first of these is named Winona. She is the first of four new characters to be sent to the hostile world of Don’t Starve. Winona will be available around the middle of March, with subsequent character releases occurring every two months after. You’ll need to purchase each character, and while Klei hasn’t nailed the final price down, it believes they will charge $6.99 USD each.
There’s also plans to speed up development, especially with the console versions, by reworking their pipeline and investing in new technology so that the certification process for each new patch will be much faster. This improved turn-around time should allow for quicker updates to the console versions, allowing developers to focus on more thorough designs and a higher standard of quality.
Don’t Starve Together is out now for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, macOS and Linux.
