The teams behind various popular MMOs like AION, Elsword, Guardians of Ember, OGame, SoulWorker, and TERA are about to add one more game to their portfolio. That’s because Kingdom Under Fire 2 has been formally announced and given some new details. South Korean developer Blueside will be handling the western release of the MMORPG sequel.
The game has actually been around for a decade, having been released back in 2008. The title combines massively multiplayer online roleplaying games (MMORPG) and real-time strategy (RTS) genres for a hybrid title unrivaled in its epic scale. It’s very much like a Dynasty Warriors MMO, at least in terms of its gameplay style. Players command massive armies battling it out for supremacy, but any time they can jump right into the action as a hero for some satisfying hack-and-slash action.
Teh game features a a hyper-fantasy style in its character design and setting, aiming squarely at the same gamers who are drawn to the likes of BDO and similar titles in the genre. Although some will be turned off by the over-the-top style, others will no doubt like it, judge for yourself by checking out the gameplay trailer above.
But not content with just announcing the long-awaited release, team members at various levels put their excitement about finally localizing the MMO into words.
Tomislav Perkovic, Chief Product Officer, said:
“The Kingdom Under Fire series is a favorite among those of us at Gameforge, so we’re very excited to partner with Blueside to continue this epic saga and finally bring it to Western markets for the very first time. We are determined to help Blueside realize their vision of the ultimate MMO, launching Kingdom Under Fire 2 for Windows PC in North America and Europe later this year.”
Sejung Kim, CEO of Blueside, added:
“Blueside has always sought a publishing partner with significant experience and a deep understanding of the Western online games market required to properly service Kingdom Under Fire 2. Based on their unique and extensive experience bringing Asian multiplayer titles to Western markets, we believe Gameforge is the publisher we’ve been looking for. We are very excited to collaborate with Gameforge to finally introduce Kingdom Under Fire 2 to fans throughout Europe and North America.”
