Square Enix has already pushed the hype machine for Kingdom Hearts 3 to a fever pitch, the game has gone gold, and the team has released a new trailer to celebrate. Square Enix first announced the game all the way back in 2013, and it’s been kind of a bumpy road, with lots of delays, changes and other weirdness slowing down this iteration of the JRPG franchise. Now, the game is finally coming out.
“Going Gold” means that the game data has been copied to the golden master discs that manufacturers use to create copies of the title. So it also means that gamers will start receiving their copies very soon indeed.
This trailer has actually been running as a promo in select theaters for a while, but game director Tetsuya Nomura has shared an extended cut for the fans. And since it’s a theatrical trailer, it’s quite different from the more iconic trailers seen throughout the history of the franchise. It doesn’t include the typical music that evokes an anime-esque feeling which fans will be used to. Instead, it’s very much a typical narrated trailer, complete with epic-movie-trailer-narrator-man. The style is much more comedic than the dramatic tones other trailers for the game have evoked as well.
In terms of content, we see plenty of the iconic Disney characters, from classsics like Mickey Mouse, all the way to Capt. Jack Sparrow. Pretty cool for any fans of these properties. By the way, there’s much more to the game than what’s shown in this trailer.
If you want to see more Kingdom Hearts III action, go head over and check out some of the other new content from properties like Tangled, and Ratatouille. Or maybe you just want to watch the majesty that is King Mickey in action. There’s also other franchises like Big Hero 6 and Winnie the Pooh involved in the game and it’s sprawling collection of worlds.
I’m proud to unveil an extended version of the trailer that’s been playing in NA cinemas. And guess what? We’ve wrapped up development of #KingdomHearts III!
