Kingdom Hearts 3 leaks, here’s how to avoid spoilers

Kingdom Hearts 3

As usual with high-profile releases like this, the inevitable has happened and Kingdom Hearts 3 has leaked online. The full version is out already in the hands of some enterprising gamers, and some unscrupulous types have taken to posting spoilers for various story elements online.

Luckily, there’s an easy-to-use way to control the flow of spoilers on one particular site notorious for the problem of popular releases getting big twists ruined. Of course I’m talking about the wild land of clickbait nonsense that is YouTube. As creators struggle to gain more views and popularity in an increasingly crowded space, more YouTubers are resorting to clickbait and spoilers to get eyeballs on their content. For those of us that don’t want to get spoiled this is a problem. That easy-to-use way is of course the browser extension BlockTube.

BlockTube is available now for Firefox and Chrome, and features a ton of useful features for controlling different types of unsavory content. There’s a selection for blocking videos by title. Just put anything related to Kingdom Hearts in that box (one entry per line) and that should reduce the amount of potential spoilers a fair bit.

There are of course other useful features of BlockTube. You can also block individual videos and entire channels using the drop down menu (the three vertical dots next to a video in the sidebar). This is useful for getting rid of the glut of  garbage YouTube recommends. No thanks Google, I don’t want to watch a video in Hindi or 13 “cringe” compilations.

Avoiding spoilers on other social media is a bit harder. You might even have to resort to not touching Twitter, Instagram or other platforms until you get the game yourself. And if you don’t care about spoilers, at least be considerate to those who do and don’t spread them around for a bit.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release on January 25, 2019. If you’re excited and want to learn more, while avoiding spoiler minefields, there’s plenty of gameplay and other coverage from Square Enix that you can take a look at. Sony recently announced a special themed PS4 Pro that’s being released alongside the JRPG.

If you’d like to see more details about the upcoming RPG, Square Enix has you covered. The company recently put out the opening cinematic trailer, featuring some excellent custom theme music. There’s also other franchises like Big Hero 6 and Winnie the Pooh involved in the game and it’s sprawling collection of worlds, which you can check out in their own gameplay footage. You should also go see the majesty that is King Mickey in action.
