Kid Goku is coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Much to the joy or chagrin of fans, depending on who you ask, the roster for Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting bigger in a predictable way. Despite the roster already being stuffed with various forms of the iconic hero of Dragon Ball, Son Guku, an upcoming DLC will reportedly be adding another Goku as a playable fighter.

This time it’s the much lesser-known Kid Goku form. The Kid Goku form is pulled directly from the much-maligned, and now non-canon, Dragon Ball GT. Goku is reverted into a child-like state by the vengeful Emperor Pilaf, who featured heavily in many manga and anime Dragon Ball series, making a wish inadvertently with the Eternal Dragon.

In terms of attacks, Kid Goku has the ability to ascend to Super Saiyan 3, massively increasing his power. He can also use the incredibly useful power pole  to strike opponents from afar. His ultimate attack is of course the famous Super Spirit Bomb, which has featured in several Dragon Ball fighting games in some form.

This new roster entry will be the fifth base Goku alongside Goku, Goku (Super Saiyan), Goku (SSGSS), and Goku Black, and the eighth if you include the playable Goku fusions which came to the game as additional DLC. That includes Vegito, Gogeta, and Zamasu (fused). Forms of Goku are just the tip of the iceberg, as the roster currently houses more than 30 characters, encompassing heroes and villains from across the Dragon Ball timeline and various manga and anime series.

Dragon Ball FighterZ came out on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in January 2018, before arriving on Nintendo Switch last September. Fans of the anime loved it for giving them a new game, and the FGC loves it for being an easy game to get into due to the simplicity of inputs, while also having a decent strategic layers with character choices.
