Just Cause 4 has some amazing new systems, dedicated to allowing Rico to cause a whole new degree of chaos. One such system is on show in the latest trailer for the game.
The big focus with the latest trailer is on in-game tornadoes that rip apart the landscape, and you’ll have the ability to mess with them, just like everything else in the game. In the trailer, we see Rico taking out entrenched Wind Cannons that are holding the tornado back from destroying a Black Hand airbase. It will be interesting to see how this kind of mission is weaved into the wider gameplay experience, hopefully to give the player weather-shaping abilities to allow for mass destruction.
Square Enix and Avalanche Studios are adding a bunch of new ideas into Just Cause 4, aside from just the new destructive weather. Much more impressive visuals drive the experience. With the new Apex engine being build by Avalanche, the weather, lighting and real-time physics get a massive upgrade in this iteration compared to previous games in the franchise.
And new movement and vehicle options, like the Storm Chaser seen in this trailer, allow the player an unprecedented degree of freedom to move about the game’s various biomes. And all of this comes with the additional layer of fun that has defined the Just Cause franchise, wanton destruction. And with new toys like the Wind Cannons and Railguns, things are sure to get messy very quickly.
