Is MLB The Show 21 cross-platform?

MLB The Show 21 Cover Athlete Revealed

As rumors have swirled around MLB The Show 21, fans have been wondering about one burning question. That question is whether or not the new baseball title is cross-platform. And it looks good to some fans. The franchise makes its way to Microsoft platforms finally, as it lands on the Xbox One and Series X/S when it launches.

The game has gone through a lot of changes since its first release on the PlayStation 2 in 2006. The series was previously exclusive to the PlayStation platform from that time going forward. Sony and the MLB had worked out various multi-billion-dollar deals over the years to secure the series on Sony’s platforms, leading into the PS4.

And even though gameplay details have yet to be confirmed, there is some suspicion of corss-play among fans. We will have to wait for confirmation on that though.

There was some good news though, as the cover athlete has been revealed for MLB The Show 21. Fernando Tatis Jr. will be leading the franchise this year according to Sony’s recent announcement. The cover athlete reveal did at least confirm that the game is coming to Xbox as of now. This is something that fans wanted for more than a decade and they finally have it. Now the baseball franchise can finally reach a larger audience.

The leaks that confirmed the news of the cover also revealed a special edition of the game. The Jackie Robinson Edition will include some branded schwag and access to an Early Access Weekend beginning on April 16.

MLB The Show 21 launches on April 20, 2021 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X/S.
