Is Doom Eternal coming to Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass

The recent announcement of an acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft has rocked the games industry. Id Software was among the acquisitions, as was the rest of the Bethesda portfolio. This led to a lot of speculation that Xbox Game Pass would be getting some new titles. Seeing a bunch of legendary titles jumping to Game Pass and Game Pass for PC would be pretty cool.

The flurry of new speculation about Doom Eternal coming to Xbox Game Pass comes after a Twitter account for the service released a mysterious teaser. And because Twitter accounts love to engage in asinine memes, some better than others, the Xbox Game Pass Twitter teased in a tweet that Doom Eternal will get on Xbox Game Pass at some point. The original tweet looked to be a jumble of nonsense, but fans quickly figured out what they wanted to show. The first letter of each sentence spells out “LOOK BELOW”. Fans also tooled around with the contrast of the tweeted image revealed the phrase “THE SLAYER IS COMING”.

“Listen up everybody! Out of all the months this year, this has definitely been the most eventful. On top of the announcement of EA Play and cloud gaming (Beta), there’s even more new coming your way. Keep reading for more details,” the message says.

“Better get excited. Everyone’s gonna go crazy when they hear what I’m about to tell you. Low and behold, [REDACTED] is coming to the service very soon! Of course, this needs to remain a secret. We need to resist the temptation of dropping hints for followers.” Check out the tweets below.

Microsoft has now confirmed that Doom Eternal is headed to Xbox Game Pass on October 1. PC players will have to wait a bit. The game will come to Xbox Game Pass for PC “later in 2020.” Here’s the new teaser revealed by Microsoft via the Game Pass account. Also, the first Doom Eternal DLC, The Ancient Gods Part One, will be out on October 20.
