To round out the year of 2019, may developers are giving their games one last hurrah. Whether it’s newly released titles or remakes, developers want to head into 2020 looking strong. And joining in on the marketing blitz is Iron Harvest. Iron Harvest is a new RTS coming from King Art Games. That company has been around since 2000 where they kicked off The Book of Unwritten Tales franchise, as well as a variety of other games. Their newest title is an RTS that blends steampunk aesthetics with gameplay that’s sure to be a blast.
The game has both singleplayer and coop campaigns across sprawling battlefields. And because it’s an alternate retelling of World War I, expect a culture clash of that era’s steam technology with insane and gratuitous violence. There’s full on walking tanks that look very reminiscent of Imperial Walkers from Star Wars, for example.
Maps are designed in the typical targeted style of the RTS genre. So there are maps tuned for 1v1 and 2v2 matches for example.
Players will pick a side in the conflict and take on increasingly difficult missions in a never-ending battle for supremacy across multiple landscapes. The story follows the economic, political and social fallout post the Great War, telling of mysterious nefarious influences seeking to take advantage of the ensuing rush to demilitarize societies across the globe.
Check it out in the trailer below. There’s actually a second trailer down there too, showing off one of the in-game maps. We’ve also included the official description down there if you want to learn more about the game from the developers themselves. Iron Harvest is coming on September 1, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
“Iron Harvest is a real-time strategy game (RTS) set in the alternate reality of 1920+, just after the end of the Great War. The Game lets you control giant dieselpunk mechs, combining epic singleplayer and coop campaigns as well as skirmishes with intense action on the battlefield for multiplayer fans, Iron Harvest is the classic real-time strategy games fans have been waiting for.
Tradition clashes with scientific and technological progress, while Europe is still recovering from the brutal battles of the World War. Cities are being rebuilt and in the countryside, the era of the Iron Harvest has begun. Farmers are uncovering the remains of the majestic walking machines that had fought on the battlefields of the Great War.
In the midst of this chaos, a new threat appears that will put Europe’s very existence at risk. Secret forces are putting everything they can towards destabilization of entire countries, determined to set the world on fire once again and finally seize control.”
