How to use the Workbench and upgrade weapons in Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 Release Date Leaked

As you get shuffled around the map fighting for the liberation of Yara in Far Cry 6, you will notice a lot of locations that you will have to come back to. You will also find many different hidden items like weapons and upgrades all over the place. With the biggest map that the franchise has ever had, there’s a huge area to explore. There are many things to do, and things to shoot, too. Players will obviously need better weapons and gear to handle these tougher targets. Use this guide to learn a bit about how to upgrade weapons in Far Cry 6.

Workbenches and how to upgrade weapons

Workbenches can be found in each military base you have captured. The first one will be unlocked during the course of the story, after you meet Juan the first time. After that point, any found benches are marked with a screwdriver symbol. Head over to the workbench and interact with it to bring up the upgrade menu. You can pick upgrades for the Supremo, as well as the sidearm and main weapons you’re carrying.

Once you select which weapon you want to upgrade, you will get a screen that shows each perk slot you have access to. From this screen you can add new mods to a weapon, adding new ammo, muzzle and optical mods. Each one of these will affect the base stats of the gun, as well as adding new effects. Keep in mind, mods are permanent, so you cannot pull them back out. Also, you can only utilize three mods at one time in each piece of gear. That covers the basics for the process of upgrading weapons in Far Cry 6.

Weapon and gear upgrades have their own requirements in some cases. For the Resolver and Supremo, you will need to hunt AA Sites for Depleted Uranium. Each 100 uranium you put to use can unlock a new variant. It takes a lot of work to get them all, though.

If you want to speed this up, it’s probably a good idea to unlock fast travel ASAP. Being able to zip around the map in this game is crucial. Far Cry 6‘s world map has so many things to do that it becomes too much to remember.
