The house storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons is normally capped at 1,600 items, and that includes both stacks and individual items. If you’re like me and have a treasure trove of outfits, decorations and seasonal materials cluttering up the place, you might be running out of space. You have to normally upgrade your house all the way to the fully expanded two floors and basement to get the full house storage amount.

With the debut of the new holiday update on November 19, Animal Crossing New Horizons has finally increased the cap on items per player. The new limit is 2,400 total items/stacks. Expanding the storage to 2,400

To get the final upgrade, head over to Resident Services and speak to Tom Nook. Pick the About my home… option and select Expand Storage.

The new upgrade costs 500,000 Bells and you must pay it upfront. Tom Nook will not issue another loan for it. And you must also have all your existing loans paid off first as well. It’s a very expensive endeavor, but it’s worth it for those long-term players who have already amassed a ton of items.
