So in good news for the hardcore Nintendo crowd, Amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are now a thing. You can use your amiibo to create villagers that can spawn villagers as NPCs in your game. Each day, once per day, you can invite a new character to your islands, and these can be based on the amiibo you put into the Switch game.
And to get them to join your village, you kind of have to bribe them. Each time a new character shows up, give them a gift and talk to them. The more you do this with a given character, the more likely they are to join your population of friends and neighbors. But to do any of this, you need to unlock the feature first.
Animal Crossing: New Horizon also has a new Photo Mode that can be unlocked too. However, there are some steps to undertake to get the Amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Your point of contact here is Tom Nook, who will be giving you all the stuff you need to unlock Amiibo. First, you need to build a campsite.
Once you upgrade Resident Services, you will need to go visit Tom Nook, who will give you the campsite you need to place. To build it, you need to have: 15 pieces of wood, 15 pieces of softwood, 15 pieces of hardwood, and 15 iron nuggets. Iron nuggets are the hardest to find, we have a guide for that. Once you have gathered these materials, craft the campsite at a Workbench and then place it. Wait one day for the construction to finish.
Once you have successfully built the campsite, you can use your amiibo or amiibo cards to invite villagers to visit you. One interesting thing you can do with this system is unlocking the Photo Mode. Head over to Resident Services and look for Harvey. At some point, he will invite you to visit his island of Photopia, once here you can use your amiibo to take various cool and cute photos.
