Episode 3 has finally arrived in The Division 2. New, free content that is being added to the game to open up specializations for players and new missions. The Episode 3 segment of the game is supposed to be a connection between The Division 2 and the new expansion pack, Warlords of New York, in which players pick up the hunt for rogue Division agent Keener in Lower Manhatten, New York. There are also many new features coming to the expansion, along with a revisit to New York. The Division 2 just dropped a new patch this week that introduced the first elements of this new content series, here’s a guide on how to get going in the new chapter of post-launch content.
For those who are interested in starting Episode 3, you will want to have reached the story up to this point. The previous episodes namely, 1 and 2, both had additional story missions that were available to players. You need to have reached this point before arriving at the next step, so new players will have to work their way through The Division 2‘s end game content where they will have to fight the new enemy in invaded missions, the Black Tusks. This group is highly advanced with mech, drones, better-equipment, and overall firepower, making these previous missions much tougher.
You want to do the Coney Island Ballpark and Coney Island Amusement Park missions when you have them available. These take you to the New York area for the new missions. Unfortunately, after the mission, players are not able to freely roam these locations, but they can do so while playing them. The missions also bring back a new enemy faction, The Cleaners. They were previously sanitation workers and an enemy in the first Division game, and they believe the only way to properly clean away the disease is to burn everything and everyone. The Cleaners make their return in this episode and the upcoming Warlords of New York expansion.
All players have access to everything in Episode 3. Those with the first-year season pass had access to the content on February 12th, and then it becomes open to all players for free on February 19th. Warlords of New York releases on March 3 for $29.99.
In other news, it turns out that Ubisoft will not be directly porting the game to next-generation consoles. Instead, the team will rely on backwards compatibility with new consoles to keep from fragmenting the playerbase.
