Final Fantasy XIV has a new quest series in the already massive RPG that has fishermen in the game really excited. Fishing is one of the many side activities in Final Fantasy XIV, and it’s a pathway to great loot and rewards. The new mode called Ocean Fishing in Final Fantasy XIV, and it’s pretty easy to start, but difficult to master. To being Ocean Fishing speak with Fhilsnoe in the Fishermen’s Guild in Limsa Lominsa.

the quest “All the Fish in the Sea” and head over to the Ferry Docks near the Arcanists’ Guild. Head to the end of the dock there and speak with Foerzagyl to begin the first quest in the chain. This will also unlock a vendor who sells lures and bait on the ship. Once you have some lures and bait in your inventory, you’re ready to begin.

Ocean Fishing in Final Fantasy XIV takes place through voyages. These voyages depart from the aforementioned docks every two hours. Once you’re out on the water, get fishing, as the boat moves to a new fishing spot every 7 minutes. Each trip, the boat makes three stops before returning to Limsa Lominsa.

These trips are a great way to level up if you’re below max level, as EXP is rewarded for your active job if you’re level 49 or below. The gains for low-level players are so massive that players at this point report gain multiple levels per trip. Those around levels 50 and 79 gain a smaller amount of EXP and some Yellow Gatherer’s Scrip. Any max-level players get both White and Yellow Gatherer’s Scrip.

The scrip items can be exchanges at Scrip Exchange NPCs for rare items and tons of unique bait for fishing. The real reward here is the Tier V Materia that makes buffing high-end armor pretty easy. Here’s a breakdown of the loot that can be gained from Scrip Exchanges.
