Season of the Chosen has begun, and with it comes some very interesting new content. The Cabal Empire has returned to wage war, and it’s up to players to stop them. You will need to use the Hammer of Proving and the new Battlegrounds to fight them back. The new system is very similar to other tasks of previous seasons in Destiny 2. Just like the Chalice of Opulence, you will need to socket things into the HAmmer of Proving to unlock certain features. With this guide, you will learn how to socket a Challenger Medallion into the Hammer of Proving in Destiny 2.

How to socket a Challenger Medallion into the Hammer of Proving in Destiny 2

The first challenge with the Hammer of Proving is already live. The challenge will have the description of “Use Cabal Gold to Socket a Challenger Medallion.” Open up the Director and go to the Quests tab. You can then go into the Director and right-click on the Hammer of Proving. You can then press and hold the prompt on the Medallion to socket it into the Hammer. You will need to have Cabal Gold for this to work. The first task will take 42 Cabal Gold.

Also, Bungie will likely add more content as the season progresses, so you will need more Gold and Medallions as things progress.

Each Challenger Medallion can be unlocked via the various tasks in the Season of the Chosen. you’ll need to earn Cabal Gold to earn Challenger Medallions. If you want to progress and challenge the later parts of the season, you will need to farm it. And when you want to earn more, you need to do a few things.

The short version of this is to just farm Strikes. Run through the Vanguard playlists for Strikes, and completing each one will earn you some Cabal Gold. If you want a more detailed primer on the new season, check out our recap guide.
