How to smelt bronze in Valheim

Valheim

A number of players have been asking a lot of questions related to Valheim, and we’re here to answers some of them. Some quests are pretty easy to answer, some are a bit harder. Valheim is procedurally generated, meaning that where you find certain items won’t be the same for everyone. Generally, though, each biome follows set rules. So when you’re hunting for certain items, you might need to know the general area to look in to find a certain resource. One later-game resource that’s hard to find is bronze in Valheim.

Just like in the real world, Bronze in Valheim is an alloy of Tin and Copper. You can find both of these around the game world. Tin can be found around water sources, as can Flint and other rocks. Copper is routinely found among rocky outcroppings, look for the Copper Deposts. But first, you need some tools to gather the ores. Firstly, you need a pickaxe to gather ores. After you have at least the basic variant, you need to hunt for Copper and Tin. You need to gather as much of these two ores as you can get.

To smelt them, you need to build a Smelter, which can be made from a Surtling Core and a few other resources. You can find that in dungeons, and around the Black Forest biome. You need Stone x20 and Surtling core x5 to build the Smelter.

Once you have your copper and tin ore, it’s time to smelt it. For every two Copper ingots and one Tin ingot, you get one bar of Bromze. You will need to melt the raw ores separately inside a smelter. Each batch of three ores should take six coal. You need to units of fuel to melt one bar, so you will have to do the math on how much coal you will need. If you need more than you can gather, put more Wood in your Charcoal Kiln to make Coal.

Now that you have the Coal and the Ores, you can get to work.

Once you’re done with that, you could go grab some other material like birch to make more advanced tools. You will also want to upgrade your workbench to be able to unlock the new recipes you need to progress. Be sure to drop a Portal nearby your home if there isn’t one, this will make crafting much simpler. You can now make that spiffy Bronze Axe and a bunch of other tools.
