How to slidestep in MLB The Show 22

There are many different skills you will put to use on the field in MLB The Show 22, and they can be kind of complicated. The dance of America’s past-time is a complex one. The ability to control the pitches, fielding and more is a lot of work. But there are a few key moments that really get the crowds on their feet. When you’re on the mound, you have to play defensively and plan ahead. The ebb and flow of the game around you is greatly dependent on how you pitch.

The pitcher has many tools in their arsenal, and they are in a great position to watch for stolen bases and other tricks by runners. But sometimes, runners can be pretty crafty. If they time their steals right, they can get off base before the pitch is completed, letting them to a steal off before the catcher can get them out. There’s one way to try and prevent that, with a slidestep in MLB The Show 22.

The slidestep is a special pitching stance that allows the pitcher to complete the wind-up for the pitch a bit faster than normal. The goal is to get the ball into the catcher’s hands before the runner steals. It’s not always guaranteed to put off a runner, but it can come in clutch in a tight game.

You can hold down the associated button to get the pitch off. You need to get a runner on base, then press the right button to slide step. Press and hold LT on Xbox, ZL on Switch and LT for PlayStation once your runner is in position. Once you hold down the trigger, press the normal pitch button to throw. If you’re using the pinpoint pitching mode, you need to make sure you complete the pitch motion faster, as you have to beat the runner. Done right, and you should be fine. The pitcher will perform the wind-up and then the ball will go right to the catcher.
