Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is a new Switch title that brings with it a bunch of new quests and objectives to complete across various maps, all of which are randomly generated. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is a little different from many other games in the Pokémon universe because of this.
There is multiplayer in the new game, but it’s mostly a singleplayer affair. The mechanics involved in the new dungeon-crawling game offer up various quests to complete that sees the player having to team up with various Pokémon and using their abilities to rescue trapped trainers and fulfill other objectives. To take on tougher quests, you need to build out your roster. Trouble is, you can’t throw PokéBalls to catch these monsters.
How to recruit Pokémon
To recruit Pokémon, you need to advance through the story a bit. The Mt. Steel rescue dungeon, which is the third dungeon in the game’s story, is the point where you’re introduced to the recruiting mechanics. Once you’re at this point, the game will start throwing spawns at you, although remember there’s a bit more prep work to be done.
The biggest hurdle is setting up the camps that Pokémon need to stay. Each camp type is specific to each Pokémon, so there’s a need to setup camps for the ones you want to catch, and to be sure you always have space in your camps. For starters, go and visit Wigglytuff in the town, and they will give you three camps for free. Once you have your camps, head into the dungeons and start completing quests.
The encounters are somewhat random, so just keep plugging away to see what you get. When you defeat a Pokémon and your Team Leader delivers the final blow, there is a chance that they will join your team.
