You need to do these steps first before you can party together. Following these steps will also make it easier to find your friends for gaming sessions in the MMO. When you want to play with friends in Phantasy Star Online 2: NGS, here’s what to do.

How to party up with friends in Phantasy Star Online 2: NGS

For starters, be sure to be on the same Ship as the friends you want to play with. Anyone wishing to group up must be on the same Ship to do so. But before we get to group play, there’s something you need to do.

Be sure to change your Player ID

It’s important to remember that your Player ID and character name are separate. Other players will see you by both your Player ID and your character name. And when searching for friends in Phantasy Star Online 2: NGS you need to use their Player ID to make sure you get the right person. When you first make your account your Player ID will be set to a randomized one that’s very hard to remember.

When you log into the Ship you want to play on, you will be greeted with various options. Changing your ID is pretty easy, and can be done from the Support Menu. Click Support Menu on the main Ship screen, then press Change Player ID Name. This must be a unique name, as all players must have a unique PID.

You can get one free Player ID change per account, it’s best that you take advantage of it now. You will have to pay the AC equivalent of about $30 USD if you want to change it again, so pick something good. That 3,000 AC price to change your PID just isn’t worth it.

Unlocking the requisite features

Once you have your PID set, it’s time to play the game. Just work your way through the starting quests until you reach Central City. You will eventually be given a quest called the First Trial. You will be sent to the First Step Cocoon. Follow the instructions to complete the quest. Once you complete this tutorial, head back to Central City and follow the Waypoints to the Command Center. Head up the elevator and talk to Liu Lin to get the next phase of the quest.

To complete this quest you need to connect two Rhyuker devices together. This will give you access to the communication services, allowing you the full range of social options in-game. Activate the two devices via the waypoints to finish up.

After this, you can now use the Rhyuker device to access various features. keep in mind that you will need to be on the same Block to play together as well. Use the Block Transfer via the Rhyuker to change to the block your friends are on, or have them join you. You can then manage friends lists, and use the ARKS Search from the Communications menu to add and manage friends. The ARKS Search will let you find your friends via their character or Player ID name, and let you group up and send friends requests.
