How to open the door in Stormfoot Catacombs in Elden Ring

Elden Ring Ashes of War Guide

While exploring the Stormfoot Catacombs in Elden Ring, you’re going to find a few annoying things. When you head down and get mobbed by those angry little Imps with knives, you’re going to be kind of annoyed. Then you have to contend with a lot of fire. Each of the rooms at the end of an area will be filled with angry Imps so be careful and bring a good amount of healing. Also, they attack fast, so be ready to dodge.

Once you clear out the first section, you will come to a locked door that says “locked by some contraption” when interacted with. You will need to head further into the dungeon to get past this door in Stormfoot Catacombs. Here’s what to do.

The second area leads into a hallway that’s filled with flames. every few seconds the flamethrower at the end of the hallway will fill the area with deadly flames. There’s a small gap on the right of the first flame spout. Be careful, as the second flamethrower is just down that new hallway.  You can disable the flame throwers by hitting them one time with your weapon. They will descend to the floor and should stay there. If they don’t, hit them a few more times from behind, or use a power attack. Eventually, the path to the ladder should be clear.

Once you’re past that, head up the ladder in the alcove to your right. Head up the ladder, and take out the Imps on the top section. There’s a small ledge off to the right side where you can drop down. Be careful not to drop down to the first floor as you will have to run through the empty dungeon again. Walk around to the statues and you will notice a level behind one of them.  This is that contraption, pull the lever to get past that irritating door in Stormfoot Catacombs.

And beyond that door, is the incredibly creep automaton boss. This giant cat-like statue levitates around the arena, and slams both itself and its sword into targets. If its movements weren’t creepy enough, the horrifying mass of bodies on the far wall will help sell how irritatingly weird this thing is.
