Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ 2.0 update has dropped a full 2 days early, as Nintendo let Christmas come early. There are a ton of new features being added in this update. There’s the new resort island content, where you can bring new visitors to a special vacation spot. There’s so much more than lounging on the beach though it’s tons of fun. The addition of the 2.0.0 Update for Animal Crossing New Horizons has given you the ability to cook meals like carrot cake, curry and more. There’s a bunch of new cooking recipes added to the game. It’s a lot to parse, so we’re making guides to make it all easier for you.
But first, we need Wheat to make flour. This is a fairly basic process, very similar to the growing of pumpkins from the Halloween events.
How to get wheat in Animal Crossing New Horizons
You don’t need to purchase the Happy Home Paradise DLC to grow wheat or any other food item, it’s part of the free 2.0.0 update. You do need to find Lief to get the plant starts, though, and that can take time.
And if you’re having trouble finding some items, try spending some Bells at Harv’s new Co-op to get some new NPC shops for all kinds of stuff. He will see you Wheat plants for 280 Bells a pop when you put the money into his shop. It costs 700,000 to start the co-op and another 100,000 to get Lief going on the island. After a couple of days, just buy the wheat and get growing.
Plant it in the ground like you would any other plant, watering once a day. Once it’s grown for a few days, you should be able to harvest a few units of wheat from the plant.
How to make flour in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Now that you have fresh wheat, it’s time to make flour in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
You need to purchase the Be a Chef! DIY Recipes+ upgrade to get cooking recipes from the Nook Stop, as well as the Basic Recipes upgrade from Nook’s Cranny for 4,980 Bells. Once you have those unlocked, the flour DIY Recipe should be available at any useable crafting bench. Head over with 5x Wheat to make a bag of flour.
Now if you’re like me, and you already had a farm plot for pumpkins from years ago, you can easily make some more space. I can see myself spending a lot of time redoing some layouts to make the new farm work. Go out into the sun and have some fun!
