How to make a Splash Potion of Weakness in Minecraft

Mojang Cancels Minecraft Super Duper Graphics Update

Potions in Minecraft are a great way to get buffed for combat, exploration and more. The game puts a ton of focus on surviving the various dangers of a digital world, and sometimes you need help. Having enchanted gear is great, but sometimes you need something a little extra. Sometimes you just want to hit mobs harder. Other times, you might want to get a bit of resistance to incoming damage.  There are also ones that you can use as offensive weapons. The Splash Potion of Weakness can be used on other players and enemies in Minecraft to weaken them. This will lower their damage output, making them easier to take on in combat. Keep reading to learn how to make this useful item.

How to Make Splash Potion of Weakness in Minecraft

There are multiple other types of potions you can make, each with its own effects. Before you can make any potions in Minecraft, you need a Brewing Stand. To make one, you need one Blaze Rod, and three of either Cobblestone or Blackstone.

You will also need Water Bottles, these are the receptacles for your Potions, so you need a lot of them. Simply cook glass from sand in a Furnace and you’re ready to make them. Just put three pieces of glass into a Crafting Table. The bottom middle slot and the middle left and right slots should be filled. Think of the shape like a V. Each recipe makes three glass bottles in Minecraft. Once made, they can hold water, potions, honey, or dragon’s breath.

Ingredients you need for a Splash Potion of Weakness

  • Blaze Powder – The Blaze Powder is a drop from Blazes, found in the Nether.
  • Fermented Spider Eye – To get a Fermented Spider Eye, kill a Spider until it drops a regular Spider Eye. Craft it with a Brown Mushroom and Sugar.
  • Gunpowder – Gunpowder is pretty easy to obtain, and you can get them off of killed Creepers, and sometimes after they explode.
  • Redstone Dust (optional) – Found while mining, can be used to increase the potency and duration of potions.

Setting up a fully automated Nether Wart farm is huge for all of your potions. The Nether Wart is the red flower that you sometimes find in Nether Fortresses. Anyone who doesn’t know what those are, it’s the giant structures made of Netherbrick that spawn in the hellish zone. You will find them randomly spawned all over. The Nether Wart often spawns in the soul sand patches at the bottom of stairwells in these locations.  Another common drop from the Nether is Blaze Powder/Rods. These are random drops from killing Blazes.

Once you have your ingredients, you’re ready to begin. First place down your Brewing Stand and put a Blaze Powder in it to power it, Then, put the Water Bottle in one of the bottom flask slots, and add the Fermented Spider Eye in the top slot to begin the crafting process. This will give you a Potion of Weakness. To make it a Splash variant, add the Gunpowder into the top slot, after the Fermented Spider Eye. If you want to empower the potion, you can then add Redstone Dust.

There, you now have a supply of the Splash Potion of Weakness.
