How to make a campfire in Minecraft

Minecraft has a huge array of craftable materials, decorations, and other goodies. The players have tons of options to decorate and craft with, and one of them is the campfire. Lit campfires emit a light level of 15, which makes them a rather useful and fitting replacement to torches. The campfire is a decorative item that can light up an area around you and can also be used to add a rustic and authentic look to our fireplaces in-game. So if you want a more thematic feel to your home in the game, the campfire might be a good choice.

To craft a campfire in Minecraft, you will need the following items:

  • 3 wooden sticks
  • 1 coal OR 1 charcoal
  • 3 wood blocks OR 3 logs of any wood

All of these items are fairly easy to obtain. A pile of wood blocks and a furnace is all you really need. And the crafting table of course. Cook some wood logs in a furnace to make the charcoal. Use some of the extra wood blocks to craft planks, then turn those into sticks. Once you have the requisite parts, it’s time to assemble them. Just place them into the crafting bench and get going.

The crafting menu setup for the campfire will vary based on your platform of choice.

The PC crafting bench makes it a little weird if you’re a console player jumping over to this version. To craft a campfire in Minecraft, you need to have the three materials within the 3×3 grid in the crafting table. Place wooden blocks or logs along the bottom row in those three slots.  Put the wooden sticks in the middle left, middle top, and middle right slots. Finally, place the coal or charcoal within the remaining central slot. The open upper slots should be left empty.

Console versions make this process much easier. All you have to do is search “campfire” in your recipe book once you have the materials in your inventory. Once the menu pops up with the result you’re looking for, just confirm it to craft a campfire in Minecraft.

In Bedrock Edition, apprentice-level fisherman villagers have a 50% chance of selling a campfire for 5 emeralds. This makes it a possible choice if you need to craft more than a few Campfires. So if you want more and happen to not want to spend the wood that’s an option.
