How to join the Shadow of the Mad King event in Guild Wars 2

Shadow of the Mad King is the yearly Halloween event in Guild Wars 2. The Shadow of the Mad King event runs through November 9, during that time you can take on various events for seasonal loot. During all of these events, you can earn cosmetics and bag items. And of course, piles of loot. Seasonal loot bags like the Trick-or-Treat bags are plentiful this time of year.

But first, you need to actually get to the zone where the events are located. When you log into the game, you should get a mail notification. This is the cue for you that event is on. Open the letter that’s inside your inbox. Clicking “Show Me” will give you an Invitation to the Mad Realm.  Double-click or right-click and select activate to instantly be teleported to the event zone.

Beware, once you’re there, you won’t be able to come back via the letter again. To move around the maps and get access to the event zones, you need to talk to a Lunatic Boatman. Below, you will find each of the lunatic boatman locations in the overworld regions. You will also find them inside the Mad King’s Realm, you need to talk to them to gain access to certain events, like the Mad King’s Raceway.

You may also use Lion’s Arch or any major city, head toward the Asura Gates and you will find one that has a marker for the event itself. Look for the candy corn on your mini-map to know the way you’re supposed to head.
