How to get the Thunder Stone in Scarlet and Violet

Evolution items have a long history in the Pokemon games, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are no different. This time around, there’s a whole mess of evolution items, held items and other gadgets to learn. THis guide will help you with one particular evolution item that a lot of Trainers are after. That would be the Thunder Stone in Scarlet and Violet, so keep on reading to learn more about this useful item.

The Thunder Stone in Scarlet and Violet is especially useful if you are like many long-time Trainers, and really like Pikachu. That is one of many Pokemon across the games that only evolves once you use a Thunder Stone on it. There are, of course, other uses for this Evolution stone.

The item is most commonly used to evolve Pokemon like Pikachu, but it has other options as well. It can also be used to evolve certain non-Electric Pokemon into a specific Electric evolution. Magneton, Eevee, Elektrik and Tadbulb are all other options to use this.

If you’re using it to evolve Pikachu specifically, it’s best to wait a bit, as some of the really powerful Speed and Evasion moves can be learned while leveling Pikachu, it can also be EV trained a bit for Speed to make it more potent in battle.

Thunder Stone will become available to purchase in Delibird Presents once you’ve earned three Gym Badges. Delibird Presents are located in all the major cities in the Paldea Region, including Levincia, Mesagoza, and Cascarrafa. It will cost you 3,000 Pokédollars.

You may also find it up for auction at the stalls in Port Marinada, but it’s better just to wait until it’s unlocked in Cascarrafa and go buy it there. The Delibird Presents in that town can be found on the east side of the city, past the main square. Here’s the exact location of Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa:

Thunder Stones will also randomly spawn in the overworld from the various item spawns, although it has a very low chance of happening in the early-game zones. So that’s pretty easy to obtain even fairly early into the game.

Bringing things back around to Pikachu, this means that after beating Kofu, you will have access to a Thunder stone and be in the right place to buy one. Although you will get access to it before that by going to Levincia, after beating the Electric Gym.
