How to get the Jewel Beetle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to find and capture an Atlas Moth in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Jewel Beetle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is another of one of the rare insect spawns in the new Switch game. Along with the newly spawning Atlas Moths, the Jewel Beetle is a rare bug that has very specific spawn conditions. The Jewel Beetle will also be a rare spawn, so you’re going to have to look around a bit to find it.

And with the new Bunny Day events, there will be plenty of stuff to do while you’re hunting bugs and other loot. There are no time restrictions for the Jewel Beetle, so it’s an easy thing to hunt, while you’re also looking for Eggs and other goodies. And since you can’t make that Bells exploit work anymore on patched versions New Horizons, you’re going to need a new method for easy money.

Approach it just like the Atlas Moths, just move slowly and have your net ready. When you do get close, hammer A to catch the Jewel Beetle.

For starters, look around the hardwood trees on the island. And yes, those are the same ones that sprout Sakura Blossoms, under the right environmental conditions. You can only find the Jewel Beetle starting in April for those who live in the Northern hemisphere. If you’re in the Southern hemisphere the Jewel Beetle will show up between October to February.

Cut these hardwood trees down, just a few of them of course, and there’s a small chance you can get a Jewel Beetle to spawn. There’s a chance that mystery islands can also spawn these bugs.

Once you have the Beetle, there are a couple of things you can do. Firstly, sell it for Bells, the beetle can be given to Tommy or Timmy at Nook’s Cranny for 2,400 Bells. Because it’s available almost any time of the day, nearly everywhere, it’s actually a pretty solid and reliable choice when farming for currency.
