How to get the Gargoyle’s Black Halberd in Elden Ring

Elden Ring: How To Beat The Stonedigger Troll

Elden Ring has a lot to do. There are dozens of bosses and a mountain of items to find, but also much more than that. The game is filled with hidden dungeons, dusty tunnels and more places to explore. With so much to do, there’s been a lot to worry about. And new players will likely take some time to adjust to the world, meaning they’re going to die—a lot. You can help mitigate that by grabbing some more powerful gear, though, and that’s a good thing to do.

As you level up and get stronger in Elden Ring, there’s going to be enemies that you have trouble with. And to deal with that, you need better gear. There are many weapons in the game to choose from, what you go with depends on your build.

One weapon that some players are chasing is the Gargoyle’s Black Halberd in Elden Ring. This massive ax hits like a truck, and its tons of fun to send enemies flying with. Its basic scaling isn’t great, with D ratings in Strength and Faith, and E scaling for Dexterity. You can upgrade it pretty reliably into much better ratings though, so it’s not unusable. The Spinning Slash ability baked in is tons of fun to use, especially on a long-reach weapon like this. But if you want to smack things around with a big axe, you really can’t go wrong with this.

The weapon is a boss drop, and is dropped by Black Blade Kindred. The Black Blade Kindred is a massive gargoyle that wields a huge blade as a weapon. You can find them around the game, but the first ecnounter is the most lethal. They will be found gaurding the entrance to the Bestial Sanctum.

To find this item, you need to head to the very northern end of the Caelid zone to the Bestial Sanctum. To reach the Bestial Sanctum easily, you can talk to the NPC named D, Hunter of the Dead. He can be found just outside of Summonwater village. Speak with them and they will tell of a Mariner in the nearby village. Head to the northeast of Limgrave and speak to the lost Mariner. When you return to D, he will mark your destination on your map.

You can also reach this area easily by using the warping stone that is behind the Third Church of Marika in the Mistwood. You will end up in the Bestial Sanctum right away. Although if you go there too soon, the area will be too dangerous for you. Finding this location a bit later into the game when you have a few levels and some decent gear is advised. When you use the warpstone, you will spawn directly behind the boss. Be careful to avoid triggering them, as they will be facing away from you until you take a step forward.

Whatever method you choose, you need to head to the sanctum and take them down. When you do, you get the weapon, as well as a nice cache of 88,000 Runes.

If you’re playing and enjoying the game, good for you! You might have questions though, so we have some guides to help you out. When making a character, picking the right class is important. Figure out how to level up your character once you’re in the game. From there, you might want to learn how to upgrade gear, or maybe how to find powerful weapons, like the Meteorite Staff. Or perhaps you’re a melee player and want that shiny new Rivers of Blood katana to hack away with? If you’re dealing with a lot of Undead, try grabbing the Golden Epitaph. Another great talisman is the Erdtree’s Favor. Get the Mimic Tear Summon for a powerful ally. The Ronin Armor can be good for hefty builds.
