How to get Rusted Parts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to unlock and build fences in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Rusted Parts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are a randomized resource that has very specific uses. This resource ties into Gulliver, an NPC you might not have even noticed. Gulliver is an NPC who kind of floats around on the island. Most days, you will find him lounging on the beach. He’s pretty sleepy, but keep coming back and he will eventually wake his lazy butt up. Just keep pestering him and eventually, he will wake from his slumber.

Once that happens, it’s time to get started on gathering Rusted Parts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Gulliver will send you on a quest for Communicator Parts. These aren’t that hard to find but unfortunately, the game doesn’t really tell you how or where to find them. To make it simple, you need a Shovel and you need to start digging, but it’s where you start digging that’s the trick. Start digging on the beaches or any other sandy area, and there’s a small chance that you will uncover a Communicator Part. look for the tiny water spouts in the sand to know where to dig.

Turn the requisite number of Parts into Gulliver to unlock some new DIY Recipes. Gulliver also gives you a gift for doing this for him.

The cool bit of this is that you can even unlock a Recipe for a really rad looking robot. To complete this task, you need to unlock the Resident Services recycling box, which is gained once you upgrade the building in your town. This box can sometimes spawn a Rusted Part, so check back often. You need thirty Rusty Parts to build said robot, so it’s going to take time.

This is also the most common source for Rusty Junk in the game. Various new DIY Recipes will be made available throughout your play time with the game, and you won’t need the Rusty Junk until quite late in the game when you’re doing high-end crafting, but it still has its uses before then.
