How to get red eggs in Pokémon Go, and deal with Team Rocket

How to get red eggs in Pokémon Go

With October 2020 rolling ever forward, no video game is safe from spooky events. You can obtain a new egg in Pokémon Go, and it’s got a bloody red tint to it.

You can only receive one by taking down one of the three Team Rock leaders: Sierra, Arlo, or Cliff. Of course, you also need an open egg slot. The red eggs appear to be a means to have unique spawns in the game that would otherwise not be obtainable via this method. Players will have to do some hunting to find them.

As of October 2020, these are the Pokémon that can hatch from these eggs:

  • Deino
  • Larvitar
  • Sandile
  • Scraggy
  • Trubbish
  • Pawniard
  • Vullaby

The biggest hurdle here is finding and beating the Rocket Leaders. To spawn them, you need to first defeat six Rocket Grunts in battles. This will then have a  chance to spawn a random Rocket balloon which has a leader inside. Each leader has a roster of three random Pokemon that you will have to battle to overcome. Check out the sections below for how to beat the three Rocket bosses, Arlo, Sierra and Cliff.

How to beat Arlo in Pokémon Go

Pineco leading the fight means a really powerful Fire-type can wipe the floor. Bring a Moltres if you want to strut a little bit. This will give you a good setup if Arlo changes into Steelix or Scizor in the next phases. If you get hit with a Steelix or Charizard in phase two, bring out a Ground-type like Garchomp or Rhyperior. Raikou, Electivire or Zapdos are solid counters for Blastoise.

Phase three is where things can get even harder if you’re not properly set up. Mamoswine is a good counter to swap into if you don’t have to face Scizor. Your Moltres will probably be out of gas by this point if you’re unlucky. In that case, bring in something equally powerful like Goundon.

Below you will find his possible roster choices:

Pineco Charizard Salamance
Steelix Scizor
Blastoise Dragonite

How to beat Cliff in Pokémon Go

A mix of solid types is needed for this fight as Cliff has a ton of variety to his team. Below you will find his possible roster choices:

First Pokémon Second Pokémon Third Pokémon
Grimer Omastar Swampert
Machamp Torterra
Electivire Tyranitar

Mewtwo, Metagross or Latios are a good open if they have Psychic-type moves. Grumer won’t be able to stand against that. A strong Ground-type Pokémon, such as Goundon, Garchomp, or Rhyperior can both counter Omastar and Electivire. Machamp is a bit harder to handle, but a Mewtwo should be able to take it out, or any other mildly tanky Psychic-type.

For Swampert, you’ll want a Grass-type Pokémon such as Roserade, Alolan Exeggutor or Tangrowth. Against Torterra you could choose a Fire-type Pokémon, but it might be better to go for any solid Ice-type if you have it. Tyranitar is one of the more dangerous elements here, you will want a strong legendary

Drowzee, the Psychic-type Pokémon leads her team, bring a solid counter to this for your lead-off to get an early advantage. Your best choices include Darkrai, Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Weavile, Chandelure, Mega Houndoom, Origin Giratina, Bisharp, Mewtwo, or any other choices with strong Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type moves.

First Pokémon Second Pokémon Third Pokémon
Lapras Exeggutor Shiftry
None Sharpedo Alakazam
None Lapras Houndoom

Her second choice will be best countered by Grass and Dark moves. Fighting-type moves can handle the rest of her team pretty well. Chndelure, Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Gengar, Pinsir and more are all solid, assuming they can withstand the heavy Fire and Grass attacks coming out of this last choice.
