The Razz Berry has been in Pokemon for a while. In the prior Pokemon games, they are harvested from trees or found as held items. In Niantic’s adaptation, they work a fair bit different. Use them to help increase your chances of capture, and to make everything easier on yourself. You can use a few different Berries in Niantic’s game, actually, and they all serve a slightly different purpose. Razz Berries in Pokemon Go are one of several of these types of bait. How to use a Razz Berry in Pokemon Go
When you get an encounter you want to help improve the odds on, click the Backpack in the bottom right corner. You will see your various items in the bag. Scroll until you find the Razz Berry and select it. Fling the Razz Berry at the Pokemon like you would a Poke Ball. From there, the effect will apply and the monster won’t block the next throw you make. Be sure to make it count.
What do they do, you ask? It’s actually very simple. A Razz Berry is kind of berry that when fed a Pokémon while trying to capture it increases the chance of success by 1.5 times. They can be obtained by trainer at Level 8 and higher. This can be very helpful in Raids and other high-pressure captures where you only get one shot. Most Trainers will feed Razz Berries in Pokemon Go to the Pokemon they wish to capture to waste fewer balls on it.
When you use a berry, it will wear off after a couple of attempts at catching it, so be sure to refresh the effect if you can. There’s usually a timer at play here before the Pokemon runs, so be quick about it.
Where to Find Razz Berries
Razz Berries are frequently given out as rewards when you level up as well. So do your daily and weekly tasks to get that sweet Trainer XP. You will also sometimes get them as daily login rewards. So keep playing to get more Razz Berries in Pokemon Go.
The other major source of berries and other useful items is PokéStops and Gyms. You can get berries and other basic items by spinning a a Photo Disc at a PokeStop or Gym.
You can also find Silver and Golden Razz Berries in some cases. They are often given out as event rewards. Each rarer variety of any kind of berry has a more potent effect. You will most often get silver and gold berries by participating in Raid Battles or completing Research Tasks.
