How to get Pokémon Go Fest 2020 Tickets

Throwback Challenge 2020: Johto Special Research and Rewards in Pokémon Go

Niantic has finally announced the dates and ticket prices for Pokémon Go Fest 2020. The event is scheduled for July 25 and July 26 this year. Pokémon Go Fest 2020 tickets will be on sale soon.

Pokémon Go Fest 2020 has shifted to a virtual event this time, and the ticket is a digital key that allows access to the events from home. So if you want to get some Pokémon Go fun this Summer, this is a nice way to do it. The previous runs of the event relied on large masses of fans heading to a physical location and engaging in various events. The disastrous first run of Pokémon Go Fest happened in Grant Park in Chicago, IL. That obviously can’t happen this year.

Because of everywhere in the US having issues with novel coronavirus right now, it’s a good idea to have this digital event. You can’t have a massive gathering like this during a deadly pandemic.

How to get Pokémon Go Fest 2020 Tickets

Pokémon Go Fest 2020 tickets have not gone on sale yet. The price should be in line with previous years, although this has not been confirmed. The developer has organized ticket sales in such a way that you can get tickets for either of two days, or for both days as a bundle. Previous years saw players buying into each of the six-hour days individually. During these two days, Pokémon Go Fest 2020 will have various events, and likely some reveals of future content.

The cost for the tickets in previous years, not including the cost of travel, was $15 USD. The previous Pokémon Go Fest and the Safari Zone events followed this event and pricing structure, so there’s little reason to deviate for an all-digital event. Since there’s no going to a physical event space this year, it will likely be cheaper for Niantic to put on. This could lead to a reduction in ticket prices.

When Pokémon Go Fest 2020 Tickets do go live, they will be purchasable from within the game. Simply load up the app and head to the in-game store. One the main menu, head to the Events tab in the upper-right, this button will lead you to a page for buying tickets to the event. And of course, there will be other purchasable items as well.

As for when the tickets go on sale, we can’t say. We would expect them to be on sale sometime in June, probably about a month before the event, so expect mid-June for them to show up.

It’s a virtual event, so tickets will likely be much more plentiful compared to previous years. The previous Pokémon Go Fests and Safari Zones have had to introduce population limits to prevent servers or cell services from being overloaded. Having the population spread out may help reduce the load a bit.
