Paper Mario: The Origami King has a ton of minor and major puzzles to overcome. There’s the pathway to the sewer that’s blocked by a manhole hook, for example. And the game is filled with those kinds of puzzles. So we’re putting together some guides that make it easier to overcome these challenges.
First, you need to get to Overlook Mountain, which you do by just playing the game. And then you have to deal with Overlook Mountain and an army of Thwomps. And bad news, these annoying living blocks guard the ultimate prize for Mario, a Star. Here’s how to overcome the thwomps in Paper Mario: The Origami King, and then go claim the Star they guard.
The Star you’re after is guarded by the Thwomps, but it also goes all over the place. The first place it spawns is up in a tree nearby to the thwomps in Paper Mario: The Origami King.
Several thwomps block the way, and you need to get past them. You will need to head towards the tree and get as close as you can without having the thwomps crush you. If you do it right, you should be able to use your hammer on the tree itself. If you time it right the Star should fall from the tree and land nearby. All you have to do to claim the Star is have Mario run over and touch it.
When activated, Mario will turn the signature rainbow colors, and become invincible. Yes, Stars work the same as they always have in Paper Mario: The Origami King. Once you’re in this state, rush over and hit the thwomps with your hammer. There will be several of them, so hit them quick. They go flying, so they won’t be able to come back and block you again. So just claim the Star and get rid of them forever.
