One of the more relaxing things you can do is fishing. Fishing is a great way to level up and cook important meals and healing items. To catch fish, you need bait, and that’s where this guide comes in. Players need different tiers of bait to catch rarer fish.
This is a huge MMO, and there is a bunch of things you can find out in the digital world. As such, Fast Travel in New World is pretty important. You will want to jump around the world and hunt down these various items. You might also want to find ore nodes like Gold and Iron. As you’re adventuring around, there’s a lot of stuff to find.

Right at the beginning of the game, there are three types of bait you can find quite easily. Nightcrawler, Woodlouse and Firefly bait. Each of these types of bait can be used to catch various Tiers of fish. Much like other resources, fish rarity is very much determined by the zone level. Before you really get into fishing, you need to learn the basics.
Go out and collect Woodlouse bait from any bush and take them to the large pond that sits just west of the Windsward Hamlet. There, Master Fisher Shields will gift you a fishing pole and teach you the basics of fishing. You will also learn how to make a few fishing poles. You can use one piece of Green Wood and one Fiber to make the basic version. A more advanced Treated Wood Fishing Pole uses 12 Timber, three Coarse Leather, and two Linen. You also need to be level 5 before you can make the better one.
How to get Nightcrawler Bait in New World
There are a few places to look around the map for these spawns. You can find Nightcrawler Bait pretty close to most freshwater sources, mostly lakes and rivers. You can also find other bait types, such as Woodlouse Bait, in bushes and plains. For the Nightcrawler Bait in New World,
look around the beach areas. These sandy areas are pretty much the best place to find Nightcrawler bait. Look around the rocks on the beach for the best odds. You can also get Flint and other drops from these nodes.
It’s kind of a gamble, but you can get plenty by just heading to the beaches. Both Nightcrawler and Glowworm bait boost your chances of catching better fish from saltwater, so head to the oceans. If you pick up flint at night, you’ll get Glowworm bait instead of Nightcrawler, so keep that in mind.
So now that you know where to look, head out in the world. You might also want to hunt down goats and cows to get more food sources. The leather and other items don’t hurt either.
