The new addition of weapon patterns and full crafting to Destiny 2 in the Witch Queen expansion is a really big shift in the meta. No more will we have to run a certain activity to farm the drops for weapons and gear we want. Now, we can just farm whatever we like, turning those unneeded drops into resources. Those resources can in turn be shaped into whatever weapon and perk combination that players need.
There are a handful of new crafting materials you need to use for this system. Along with Glimmer, you need to use these items to make new weapons, and to add new perks.
- Neutral Element
- Mutable Element
- Adroit Element
- Ruinous Element
- Energetic Element
- Resonant Alloy
- Ascendant Alloy
How to get Neutral Element in Destiny 2
Neutral Element in Destiny 2 is one of the more common items you’re going to need for crafting. Some Weapon Patterns use a lot of Neutral Element, so you’re going to need plenty of it. Keep reading to figure out the best ways to get your hands on more.
When you unlock a new Deepsight Resonance weapon, you then need to put time into extracting the weapon. This is the best and most consistent way to get the basic Elements. The idea is that as you play the game with this new weapon, you improve its focus on its Deepsight Resonance. Read the weapon to see what you need to do to get this done. Doing all of this will grant you a bundle of resources each time you do it. When you do a DSR weapon extraction the first time, you get a small bundle of different items, which includes 600 Neutral Element. Each run after that gives you the following: 12 each of Adroit Element, Mutable Element, Energetic Element and Ruinious Element; you will also get 200 Neutral Element.
The single best method to get a lump sum of Neutral Element in Destiny 2 is to complete the Reshaping the Enigma quest. Doing this early tutorial will give you 1850 of the stuff. Visit Rahool in the Tower to get started. It’s a very basic tutorial that teaches you about both weapon reshaping and the Relic, it’s way too easy. All you need to do is play through the mission, and upgrade the Enigma Glaive to level 3 by using it in combat. Once that’s done, follow the prompts and you’re good to go.
Finally, you also get a small amount, 15 Neutral Element, anytime you upgrade a crafted weapon. This is a reward for using the weapon in combat and adding perks over time. It’s not a lot, but it helps.
These are the best methods to get more, so keep playing. One Exotic weapon uses a bunch of it. In one case, you’ll need around 2375 Neutral Element to score yourself the illusive Osteo Striga. This exclusive weapon is normally locked to the Deluxe Edition, but you can craft it as well with enough resources.
