Niantic has unleashed a new set of in-game events into Pokémon Go. Players of the massively successful mobile game has a new set of challenges to complete as part of the Johto Throwback Challenge 2020. Completing each set of tasks will give players Berries and PokéBalls aplenty. You can also keep the rewards flowing by completing all of the tasks in the event. The big reward Ho-Oh during the Johto Throwback Challenge 2020. This set of rewards and events running across the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and the Sinnoh regions from the original games.

You can find the full list of tasks over on our Johto Research Tasks guide. Each of the task sets must be completed before the bird will spawn. Completing each task set has it’s own set of rewards. Eventually completing the various tasks will guarantee an encounter with Ho-Oh. This encounter will only be valid for the duration of the event.

Ho-Oh is a Fire and Flying-type Pokémon. It can reach a maximum of 3,863 CP, with an attack of 239, a defense of 244, and has a stamina of 214. It’s weak to Electric, Water, and Rock-type moves. With moves like Steel Wing and Fire Blast, there’s plenty of punch in this legendary bird. The Johto Ho-Oh is also unique in that it can learn moves like Earthquake, making it a serious contender within the new Master League round with a good team behind it.

The tasks are live now, but they will only be around a limited time, which means you need to rush tom complete them if you want a chance to encounter Ho-oh. These research tasks start on May 8 at 1:00pm and conclude on May 15 at 1:00pm in your local timezone.
