How to Get Glimmer in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 2.2.1 Patch to Buff Drop Rates

Glimmer and other unique currencies like Bright Dust have their specific uses in Destiny 2. Some of these currencies are specialized and rare drops that you can only get via certain methods. There are more common items that work a bit like gold in MMOs. Destiny 2 has a lot of currencies floating around, and one of them is very important. Glimmer in Destiny 2 is one of the more useful items you can farm for pretty easily. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Glimmer in Destiny 2, and what is it used for?

The most common uses of Glimmer are for upgrading weapons. There are some vendors that sell items such as Enhancement Prisms, Upgrade Modules, and Ascendant Shards. These can be used for some gear. Other vendors will also use up Glimmer to trade players other components. Some vendors, like Banshee-44 and Ada-1, don’t use Glimmer but you need other items. Anyway, the Masterwork process relies heavily on Glimmer.

The other great use for Glimmer is the weekly drops from Xur. You can get some rather powerful Exotics with really good rolls for both Legendary Shards and Glimmer

The currency used to be more important for altering existing gear. But Bungie simplified that recently. As of the 30th Anniversary update in Destiny 2swapping armor mods no longer costs Glimmer.

Glimmer is rewarded for doing almost anything in Destiny 2Players can earn Glimmer from killing enemies, completing planet patrols, opening chests, completing strikes, quests, bounties, and just about anything else. Players have many options, so let’s go through the details.

Best way to Get Glimmer in Destiny 2

Bounties are the best way, you just have to know where to look. The best place to get a glut of Glimmer each week is to hit up Spider in the Tangled Shore. They offer a bunch of weekly bounties that pays out 7,500 Glimmer per bounty. You can also get a bigger bounty that pays 10,000 each week.

Spider’s Wanted Bounties are straight up the easiest way to get plenty of Glimmer in D2. You can also hit up almost any activity on the Tangled Shore: Public Events, Lost Sectors, Patrols, and more.

The one problem is that there’s a cap on how much Glimmer you can hold. layers can only hold 250,000 of the currency at one time. You won’t be able to rush farming methods for a few days and have more Glimmer than you can spend.
