And in 2020, things are getting a bit more fun. The Eidolon Shards are a rare crafting component in Warframe that you can only get from a single source, Eidolon Hunting. That hasn’t changed. But with all of the additions from the newest patch cycle, there’s some new powerful gear that can make farming these bosses much more fun.
How to hunt Eidolons
To hunt Eidolons, you will need to visit Cetus during the night cycle of the map. Check the node on the Star Chart, and it will have a Day/Night in X minutes marker on it. That will tell you how long the game node will remain on the current time. Once you land on the city, go talk to Konzu, and check out his Bounties. During the night cycle, one bounty will send you out hunting Eidolons.
The goal of this bounty is to hunt and kill theTeralyst, Gantulyst, and Hydrolyst, claiming 5,000 Standing in the process.
The Eidolons will drop Eidolon Shards when they are killed or captured:
- Teralyst – 1 Eidolon Shard
- Gantulyst – 3 Eidolon Shards
- Hydrolyst – 5 Eidolon Shards
What are Eidolon Shards used for?
There primary use of Eidolon Shards is for leveling up with The Quill Syndicate. You can find the Quills by visiting Onnko in his secret room in Cetus. You have to unlock the Operator before this section will be unlocked. That means completing the War Within quest first.
- Rank 3 – Adherent – 10 Eidolon Shards
- Rank 4 – Instrument – 20 Eidolon Shards
- Rank 5 – Architect – 30 Eidolon Shards
The second part of hunting Eidolons will involve using the Amp the strip away their shielding. Then you must attack their weak points, basically, this is much more difficult than the hunting of the Tusk Thumpers in the daytime. The biggest problem with this is that you need to bring the Squad Energy Restore items to keep the DPS up. There are no Energy Orb drops from Eidolons, so you need them to keep your abilities up.
