How to get a roof on your castle in V Rising

V Rising Guides

V Rising puts far more emphasis on survival than a more action-oriented vamp game. Surviving against the many enemies is going to be tough. Blood is the core of your survival. You will need blood to continue fighting and growing your power. Gamers wishing to take the dark path to godhood will want to put time into building their power and expanding their roster of followers, because you’re going to need the help. This is especially true in PVP servers, where other player can mess with you, but PVE carries its own risks.

There are very difficult bosses to fight, like Lidia the Chaos Archer, who you will often have to fight during the day. And since you’re a vampire, that can be a very bad thing. Sun damage in V Rising is lethal if you’re not prepared. The first thing you need to do is to make sure you have somewhere safe to retreat to should things go awry. That means you need a secure castle. But with how intense the lighting engine is in this game, some players seem confused on how to get a roof on their domicile. This guide will help explain that.

How to get a roof on your castle in V Rising

The roof in V Rising is auto-generated, but there’s a trick to it. When you first start the game, you only have the very basic building blocks. You can build a basic Castle Heart and some Palisades, or basic wooden walls. THe problem with these Pallisades is two-fold. For one, they don’t offer any real protection in PVP, which is core to this game’s gameplay; and the other is that they don’t block the sun all that well. Sure, you can stick to the edges where the shadows will cover you, but that’s not fullproof. If you’re coming back from a boss fight injured, you need to be able to heal without the sun doing you in.

Castle roofs are based on the completeness of the room. When you construct complete walls with an entrance of some kind, as well as flooring of some kind, the room is considered complete. When your castle visibly darkens, the roof is on.  Learn to recognize the change in lighting to see when you’ve completed a room, and it will help you make sure things are secure. This is more important when you have complex room layouts that aren’t just four simple walls and some flooring.

Other aspects of the game can help with your journey, like farming in V Rising and growing stuff from seeds. Seeds harvested from bosses can be used to grow unique items for crating intriguing new armor. Some of the best armor in the game is the Dark Silver gear, which is super powerful. And since you’re trying to get more powerful gear, leather can be helpful as well. Other items like Wool Thread and Clay are useful for early game crafting. There’s just so much to do in this game.
