How to get a metal coat in Pokémon Go

Will Pokémon Go get a subscription service?

Niantic has introduced a new batch of items as rewards for players. And part of these rewards includes some really useful items. For those seeking to evolve their Scyther into Scizor and Onix into Steelix in Pokémon Go, you need an item called the metal coat. This item is just like the Moonstone and other elemental items that old-school fans know from the base games.

All you have to do is spin the dial of a PokéStop or a Gym when you visit the location. This will give out a random item as a reward. Players will have to have some luck though, as the outcome is random. The rate is very low, so you will have to spin a lot of stops for it to happen. Keep that in mind, as you will have less than a 1% chance to have a Metal Coat drop.

You may also get the metal coat in Pokémon Go via another source. If you complete your daily research tasks, you will notice a streak building up. The tasks themselves have their own rewards, but your goal is to build that streak. If you complete seven days worth of research tasks, you earn a bundle of XP, a random evolutionary item, and a guaranteed Pokémon encounter.

Problem is, the drops are random, and many different evolution items can spawn in these bundles. So that means you’re going to need to take some time with this, and have a bit of luck. There’s a chance that the drops will not include the metal coat in Pokémon Go. This does kind of suck for those hoping to get it quickly. But because the outcome is random, you may need to hit up PokéStops and Gyms before you get what you want.

There is one other method for getting a metal coat in Pokémon Go. There is another random source of drops, and that’s Gifts. Every gift you open in the game has a chance to drop more than just the normal Candies and Pokéballs, and that can be a Metal Coat. It’s an extremely rare thing to have happen, so it will require a lot of friends sending your gifts for it to happen.
