Crafting has become a critical part of Destiny 2, with a lot of renewed focus on the idea with the recent launch of the Witch Queen expansion. Crafting hinges on unlocking patterns to create the base weapon. But beyond that, there’s so much more. Players will quest and conquer their way across the stars looking for Patterns to then use in crafting. As you play through story quests, strikes and other quests, you will encounter many new systems.
Not only are Exotic weapons coming out in all manner of new forms, there’s a lot more to learn. You’ll want to make sure you purchase The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2. Without it, you will not be able to unlock any of this, putting a cap on your power levels in-game. But once you do, there are plenty of things to encounter and fight. One of the tools you unlock as you get through the story is called a Glaive.
How to get a Glaive in Destiny 2 The Witch Queen
The glaive is basically a hybrid melee weapon that offers a new way to tap into the power of the Void. The combination of the Relics you unlock as you play will confer new powers that will be very helpful in combat. There are actually a bunch of different ones, and the first one is just the basic variant. As you get more powerful, you can get your hands on new attacks and perks to take out stronger foes.
After you complete the first mission in Destiny 2’s The Witch Queen expansion and learn about Hive Knights and their Ghosts, you’ll get sent to the Mars Enclave. This part of the story centers on having to help out Ikora Rey. They will give you a new mission called the Relic. Go where they tell you and follow the quest directions, eventually, you will earn a Glaive in Destiny 2 as a reward. This first weapon is called the Enigma, and sets a baseline for Glaive power.
What does a glaive do?
The Glaive has three main combat styles. Melee, ranged, and defense. Each one focuses on a particular playstyle. Glaives in melee mode can be used to quickly close the gap with various enemies. Players looking to keep up the pressure will want to default to this mode. You also get a bonus for the melee damage you deal, as well as a faster shield charge.
That’s right, the new weapon comes with a free shield. This powerful defensive module charges as you use the Glaive in combat. Look for the slowly filling circle on the reticle when you have the Glaive equipped. This marks how much your shield has charged. To use your shield, simply “aim down sights” with the Glaive to activate the shield. This will absorb a certain amount of damage that would otherwise hit your Guardian.
The final thing to worry about is the ranged mode. This version of hte glaive attack fires ot projectiles that explode after a short delay. A great way to use this mode is to claer away weaker foes by baiting them into eating the projectile.
