How to get a fishing pole in Valheim

Valheim

Food and other materials in Valheim are pretty easy to come by, if you know where to look. Fishing is a great source of food too, but it has a hidden use. You can uncover hidden treasures if you’re very lucky. The fish as a food source is the main reason to get into it though. Here’s a simple guide on how to get a fishing pole in Valheim, as well as what you can do with it.

How to get a fishing pole in Valheim

There’s only one way to get a fishing pole in Valheim that has been found so far. You need to get hold of a Trader. That means heading to the Black Forest and seeking out Haldor. You will find him in the same position each time you visit him, and he should be marked on the map as well. This makes it very easy to find him again.

You will need to buy both the fishing rod and the bait. The Rod will cost 350 Coins, while you can get 50 fish bait for 10 Coins. Haldor also has other wares for sale, feel free to check out his stock throughout the game.

Now it’s time to fish.

How to fish in Valheim

Once you have obtained a Fishing rod, you just need to find some water. Head to any river or other body of water and equip your rod. Having fishing bait in your inventory will allow you to use the fishing rod and cast it out. You just have to wait, as you will know when you get a bite. When you have a fish on the line, you will have a Hooked notification pop up on your screen. Now is the time to reel in.

The trick here is managing your stamina, as fishing in this game uses stamina. You will have to reel in the fish before your stamina bar runs out. It’s a good idea to bring a small stash of food along to eat to keep your stamina up if you plan to fish for a while.
