Sculk Sensor in Minecraft

Minecraft’s 1.19 Wild update just landed, and it’s a big new shift for the game. The Warden has officially launched alongside the Minecraft 1.19 Wild update, here’s all you need to know about finding it. This new creature is pretty dangerous to unwary adventurers. It may be blind, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less of a threat. Part of the process for spawning a Warden involves finding and using a Sculk Sensor in Minecraft. Here’s a guide on what to look for, and how to use this new item.

How to find and use a Sculk Sensor in Minecraft

For one thing, you will be heading into a new biome to find this new contraption. The sensor is a unique item to Ancient City biomes, found in deep dark biomes at layer -52. You need to head to that depth to find them, and be prepared for anything, who knows what kind of horrors hide in the dark.

The trick to finding these is that it’s somewhat based on luck. If you can’t find one easily, just check around the Deep Dark for the blue-colored blocks, known as Sculk Catalyst. A sculk catalyst has a 9% chance of generating a sculk sensor on top of a sculk block. If you plan to bring the item with you, don’t just try to mine it. Before you go searching for Ancient Cities, be sure you have an item with the Silk Touch enchantment on it,

The Sculk Sensor in Minecraft is a vibration detector, so you need to reduce your vibrations to not be picked up by it. When it activates, there’s a two-second pulse and unique noise that happens. To prevent that, either croch-walk or place wool blocks around the sensor. Walking in these two ways will prevent the vibrations from being picked up.

The Sculk Sensor also emits a Redstone signal, which is what triggers the noise that’s unique to the block. Triggering that effect three times is what summons a Warden.
