How to farm gold in Evil Genius 2: World Domination

You need money in the real world, and you need it in games too. That’s doubly true when you’re trying to take over the world in Evil Genius 2: World Domination. The game is all about setting up a secret base and building a network of spies, all with the ultimate goal of creating a network for various evil deeds all over the world. But to accomplish this, you need gold.

There are many different ways to achieve your goals in this game. One of the most common methods to farm gold in Evil Genius 2: World Domination is to perform schemes. These randomized quests are one-off events that you can trigger and complete. Completing a scheme will often reward a specific type of resource. For gold, you need to aim for the schemes that give out money.

Starting out in the game, just make sure to get the gold deposits under your base mined out first. Then, you want to focus on defensive upgrades, as well as those that give you some Minion bonuses to speed up your efforts.

These simpler Schemes can earn thousands of Gold every few minutes and are great for the early game. They also only generate a bit of heat, meaning that you have less opposition to deal with. The key here is to keep your Terminals humming. The more Terminals you have in operation, the more schemes you can manage at once. You can have a cap of up to 300 Minions, so you have plenty of room for more than just a few Terminals. Around 8 or so Terminals is more than enough for most bases.

The easiest Schemes will just require you to send over a handful of Minions to earn a pile of cash. As your island grows in infamy, you will get tasked with various tougher schemes and tasks. But as you gain more evil notoriety, you get to contend with Agents and investigators coming to your island to screw things up.

To make the most of your gold hoarding, you will need to invest in Safe Racks for your vaults. The 20,000 Gold research is just the first step. Each Safe Rack can hold 4,000 Gold, but will cost 6,000 to secure and maintain. The conversion isn’t great, but you need to work with it. The Safe Racks allow more feasible Minion access, as well as plenty of storage options. The final upgrade to pursue is the Mega Safe. This research costs 160,000 Gold to unlock, and has a better ratio at 15,000 in upfront cost to store 10,000 Gold. The big advantage is that it’s a 1×1 building, much easier to handle compared to the bulkier safe options. The one downside is that these Mega Safes require 5 Power each.
