How to craft the Stonecutter in Valheim

How to get and smelt bronze in Valheim

Valheim remains incredibly popular, having eclipsed millions of users in its short time on Steam. The game has a ton of replayability and depth, with all the crafting that it contains. There’s also plenty of tough bosses to fight. The game’s core is built around making a huge base and doing tons of crafting though. One of the key components in that loop is the Stonecutter. The Stonecutter in Valheim is used for building stone structures and crafting items. In order to build stone floors and walls you need to place a stonecutter near a Workbench.

How to craft the Stonecutter in Valheim

To craft the Stonecutter in Valheim, you’ll need the following resources:

  • 10 Wood
  • 4 Stone
  • 2 Iron

The Wood and Stone can be gathered from trees and by picking up rocks on the ground. You will need to get through the first parts of the game to get Iron. Iron can only be gathered after you defeat the game’s second boss, The Elder. Beating this challenge unlocks the ability to find Sunken Crypts out in the Swamp biomes, THese have Iron Scraps and Iron Ore points about. This will also need you to gather ore with Antler or Bronze Pickaxes.

Scrap Iron is a good basic source and can be smelted with Charcoal. Raiding the Sunken Crypts is more reliable in terms of raw volume though, so keep that in mind.

Once you’ve made the Stonecutter in Valheim you will get access to a bunch of new crafting recipes. The game locks a ton of these kinds of complicated crafts behind layered progression. You need to unlock the right tools to get the best weapons and gear. Iron weapons and armor are the big rewards this time around, and more powerful stuff comes after that. You need to take out more bosses to unlock more tiers of gear. Moder locks off the next tier and the Artisan Table, for example.

That’s all there is to know about how to craft the Stonecutter in Valheim. Once you’re done, it’s time to move on to the next boss and continue playing. Enjoy your Viking adventure.
