How to complete the Sinnoh Collection Challenge in Pokémon Go

How to complete the Sinnoh Collection Challenge in Pokémon Go

The new weekly challenge in Pokémon Go is live, tasking Trainers to collect a certain roster of monsters to turn in for special rewards. This time you’re taking on the Sinnoh Collection Challenge in Pokémon Go. Here’s everything you need to know about the weekly challenge and what monsters you’re after.

There are three difficult options to catch to complete this challenge. The first of these is that Pokémon Go players are expected to catch both two Shadows and a special Egg spawn this week. The Egg spawn is probably the most annoying one, so let’s talk about that one first.

Shieldon is an Egg spawn that only pops out from five-kilometer eggs. You will need to hit up as many PokéStops as you can and just hope. There’s a lot of RNG involved here, so be sure to save some Egg slots for 5km eggs if you get them. Once you have some in the bank, take some time, and focus on the other challenges. While you’re trying to figure out what Eggs you got, you could be capturing other monsters.

Here are all of the Pokémon you need to capture to complete the Sinnoh Collection challenge this week.

  • Buizel
  • Chimchar
  • Combee
  • Cranidos
  • Piplup
  • Shadow Snover
  • Shadow Stunky
  • Shieldon
  • Turtwig

Most of these can be found as rare spawns throughout the game world. There is one exception though, the Shadow Pokémon. The Shadow Pokémon have returned in Pokémon Go., and that means you’re going to need to hunt them down.

You will need to hunt down Rocket Grunts to get them. To encounter a grunt, the Trainer has to get within range of a taken-over PokéStop. As a Trainer approaches, it becomes black, the Team GO Rocket logo will appear over the scene and the battle will begin. Once you do that, it’s time to battle your way through the Trainer fight. Beating the Rocket Grunt will spawn the Shadow for that Trainer. Each Grunt has their own reward encounter.

How to get Shadow Stunky

Shadow Stunky drops from beating the  Dark-type Grunt. This is a random chance out of the possible Grunts. The Dark-type Trainer says “wherever there is light, there is also a shadow.”

How to get Shadow Snover

Shadow Snover drops from beating the  Ice-type Grunt. This is a random chance out of the possible Grunts. The Ice trainer will use the line “You’re gonna be frozen in your tracks,”

There are of course other Shadows to capture as well, like Shadow Snorlax. Although to complete the challenge, you need to just get Shadow Stunky and Shadow Snover. Once that’s done, you can move on to finding the others.

Once you have the PokéStops saved and your collection complete, enjoy your rewards, as you complete the Sinnoh Collection Challenge.
