Valentine’s Day means a lot of love is in the air in the real world. And as is the case with real-world holidays and events, video games want to offer seasonal rewards to their players. For this event, there’s a set of collection challenges that involves capturing certain Pokémon. You get a few days to zip around your towns and cities, hunting for certain spawns. During that time, you get various boosts that encourage you to play the game more consistently. Here’s how to complete the Pokémon Go Valentine’s Day Collection Challenge.
Field Research Tasks will also be running during the event, offering Trainers a chance to claim extra rewards. Usually, these involve catching a certian amount of a Type, or getting Evoluitions. Completing these is pretty easy if you already regularly play. Think of the Collection Challenges as a more complex, but similar, Research Task.
How to Complete the Pokémon Go Valentine’s Day Collection Challenge
The Pokémon Go Valentine’s Day Collection challenge is broken up into two separate batches. The tasks are simple, you just need to find eight monsters. There will be both normal spawns of these four floating around. To complete the first Collection Challenge, you’ll need to catch at least one of all of the following Pokémon:
- Luvdisc
- Plusle
- Volbeat
- Woobat
The second batch will be as follows:
- Furfrou
- Illumise
- Luvdisc
- Minun
Rewards during this time will depend on how well you do in finding and capturing the event Pokémon. You may also get your hands on event-specific variants. Successfully completing this challenge will reward you with 2,000 XP, 2,000 Stardust. In addition, you could also get lucky and find a guaranteed encounter after each batch. The first one includes a male Frillish, the second one being completed spawns a female Frillish.
And not content with one day’s worth of festivities, there’s also the Global Challenge event that’s active during the next few days. Get out there and collect some Pokémon.
